We revel in the strength of parental support for the rowing program at St Peter’s College and the message it sends to the boys about the value of volunteering.

In January, we celebrated the naming of a new 1st VIII and 1st IV, generously donated by old scholars. This special occasion allowed us to re-engage with our old scholar rowing community, offering our boys an invaluable lesson about being part of something greater than themselves.

We now hope to create an annual event that brings together the wider SPSC rowing community to celebrate what rowing means to us all. To quote Cam Rungie: “John Brook’s coaching made more sense every decade after school.” On Friday 30 May, we will reflect on the lifelong lessons rowing has taught us.

We are thrilled to welcome Kim Brennan AM, Rio Olympic single scull champion, who will speak about how she draws on her rowing experience in her professional life.

Kim will then be joined by a panel including Brigette Carlile, our 1st VIII coach; Lucy Stephan, Olympic Champion and our senior squad coach; and Jamie McClurg, former cox, parent and business leader. Together, they’ll share how the lessons of rowing continue to shape their lives. The panel will be hosted by Tom Guthrie (W&A 1995), whose knowledge of the School and rowing will guide a lively and insightful discussion.

Please join us on Friday 30 May, from 12:30 to 3:30pm in the Da Costa Dining Hall, for an entertaining and thought-provoking conversation on rowing, how it continues to educate us, bring us together and shape our lives beyond the boat.

Please purchase tickets here.
