With all St Peter’s College Rugby teams now participating in the midweek club competition, our sides have been playing regular fixtures against club teams across Adelaide. Rugby at SPSC continues to grow in popularity, and we are pleased to say we will be the training base for the British and Irish Lions when they tour Australia next month.

After travelling to play strong club sides such as Onkaparinga, Brighton, and the Southern Bulls, Wednesday night marked a special milestone — the first time SPSC has hosted a club fixture. Due to the format of the competition, Farr Oval was lit up under lights as we welcomed Adelaide University U18s to face our Open XV. It was a fantastic occasion, with a great turnout of supporters who braved the chilly evening to witness this historic match.

The game itself was incredibly close and hard-fought. SPSC went into halftime with tries from Finlay MacFadyen and Jenson Grudnoff. In the second half, Edward Thomas and Alfie Barker crossed the line to add to the scoreboard, but despite a strong effort, the more experienced Adelaide University side edged us out 36–28.

Looking ahead, our teams are preparing for upcoming fixtures against Old Collegians and Burnside, before we’re warmly welcomed to Barossa Rugby Club for an exciting triple-header.
