In Week 7 on Thursday 13 March, four members of the French Society participated in the SAFTA (South Australian French Teachers Association)’s annual Pétanque tournament held at the Unley Sporting Club. This year’s SPSC team consisted of French Society Captain, Tyler Wu (Year 7, Short House), Phillip Makooh (Year 9, Young House), Oliver Bath (Year 7, Young House) and the MVP of the night, Nate Lange (Year 7, Farr House).

Our team played valiantly, but didn’t end up making it to the quarterfinals, losing 9-0 to Mercedes College, 2-4 to Renmark High School A, 1-7 to Renmark B, and 2-8 to Emmaus Christian College.

However, we upheld the school values, as the only team in tie with socks up! Unfortunately, the results meant that we didn’t progress to the next round – with Renmark A eventually coming out on top as champions – but I think a fun time was had by everyone and there’s always next year!

Special thanks to the Mr Bacon for supervising the excursion.
