The Year 10, 11 and 12 Geography students recently participated in the 2018 Australian Geography Competition in which they complete 50 multiple-choice questions based on Global Geography. This competition involves over 72,000 students from 783 schools across Australia.

The results this year were outstanding with 33% of our students placing in the top 20% of Australia. Congratulations to the following boys who received high distinctions for their efforts; Willem Daniel (Year 12), Vyk Bishnoi (Year 10), Tom Osborn (Year 10) and Alexander Shierlaw (Year 11).

Further to this, special congratulations goes to Alexander Shierlaw who placed in the top one percent of the country and will represent South Australia in Geography’s Big Week Out to be held on Kangaroo Island later this year. Only the top male and female students in Year 11 from each State and the combined Territories are invited to participate in the annual Geography’s Big Week Out, a six day event which focuses on fieldwork, spatial technologies and analytical skills. Alexander’s selection is based on his outstanding performance in this competition.

Well done to our Geography students on these magnificent results!
