SAPSASA State Football Student Reflection
In Week 6 of Term 2, four SPSC Junior School students had the privilege of taking part in an incredible opportunity—representing SPSC and our Noorth Adelaide district in the SAPSASA Football Carnival. I was one of these boys.
The AFL State SAPSASA Carnival, proudly delivered by School Sport SA, brought together over 700 student footballers from 40 SAPSASA districts across South Australia. Held over three exciting days at Barratt Reserve, West Beach, the carnival focused on developing students’ skills while promoting learning through sport in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
The journey began with several team trials, and I was fortunate to be selected. In the lead-up to the carnival, we attended several training sessions in preparation for the Carnival.
I was proud to share this experience with Banjo Skeer, James Knights and Carter Vandermoer. We all did our best to show outstanding grit, determination and sportsmanship throughout the entire carnival.
Over the course of the competition, our team played nine games, winning eight and finishing 2nd overall in Division 3. This was a fantastic achievement and something we are all very proud of.
Most importantly, experiences like this highlight the importance of setting goals, working hard and challenging ourselves to improve.
The competition was played in great spirit, and our boys performed exceptionally well throughout.
