As the School Captains for 2023, we are extremely excited about how the year has kicked off. After welcoming the many new students to the School on Day Zero, we were privileged to receive a very special smoking ceremony by our outstanding Indigenous Advisor, Uncle John Lochowiak. This ceremony reiterated our commitment to reconciliation with the Indigenous community by emphasising the spiritual and cultural importance of the land St Peter’s College is built upon. It was important that both the Junior and Senior schools attended this event so all boys could stand united.

Later in the week, we were officially inducted into our captain positions by Headmaster, Mr Tim Browning and our School Chaplain, Father Theo McCall. The entire senior cohort attended our Induction Muster to watch the proceedings where we shared our goals for the year and presented the boys with some advice. Some of the things we emphasised were the importance of self-improvement and growth, striving for your best and leaving a legacy. We believe that by each boy having the right individual mindset to be the best they can be, we can improve the overall school culture as a whole and leave Saints in a better place than when we found it.

Looking ahead, we have kept ourselves busy organising and preparing for the National Student Leadership Summit, annually hosted at St Peter’s College in March. We are extremely excited to facilitate a day filled with meaningful interaction with our fellow leaders from around the country centred around the crucial elements of leadership present in our everyday lives.

We look forward on keeping the Saints community updated on our endeavours as the year progresses through these newsletter articles as well as the @saintscaptains Instagram page. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if there is any way we can support you throughout the year, or if you have any questions. We hope you have a great start to the year!
