The Year 7 Science students recently completed their significant assessment task for the Earth’s resources unit. For five weeks, the students learned about renewable and non-renewable energy and how resources are used in society. At the end of the topic, students were given a choice of technologies (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, nuclear and tidal power) with the task of building a working power plant in Minecraft. The students were then asked to film a virtual tour of their power plant whilst explaining how the technology works, the pros and cons of renewable energy and the challenges associated with their build. This year saw some very impressive builds and some very detailed explanations of renewable energy.
