Our Year 1 students were buzzing with excitement as we embarked on a journey to the Senior School science lab where we were introduced to the world of forces. The boys were asked to identify different forces and how they impact everyday objects.  They were asked to discover through hands on activities if there is a push or pull force between a permanent magnet and an electro-magnet. The boys tried and tested their theories using magnets, electrical cables and batteries. They were shown a Van de Graaf generator and how electric charges can also cause push and pull forces. Squeals of excitement echoed through the lab as the positive charges from the generator sent foil trays flying, caused hair to stand on end and even created mini-lightning strikes.

Thank  you Mr McRae, Mr Collins & Mr Jaldiani for providing us with an engaging and meaningful learning experience.
