Designed for beginners, Flippa Ball is a fun way for Years 5 and 6 boys to develop water polo skills, build water confidence and learn teamwork.

Flippa Ball uses a smaller pool and ball, and simple rules, making it safe, accessible, and enjoyable for players of all abilities. It’s the perfect way for students who already enjoy being in the water and are curious about trying a team sport that combines fitness, skill, and plenty of action.

Over the 10-week program, students progressed through a variety of core skills — from egg beater and swimming confidently with the ball, to passing and shooting, learning defensive strategies such as “man-on,” and even experimenting with simple team formations. The growth in both ability and confidence has been impressive to watch.

A special thank you goes to our Years 10 and 11 students Harvey Bryant, Leo Dreosti, Ethan Jaldiani, Oscar Larwood and Joshua Maung for coaching the younger players. Their strong understanding of the game, clear demonstrations of technique in the pool, and encouragement have been invaluable in making this season such a success.

Flippa Ball will be back in 2026 and will be open to students in Years 5 and 6.
