The South Australian Track and Field Championships were held at the State Athletics Stadium on Friday 18 to Sunday 20 February. St Peter’s College had nine athletes compete across the weekend winning a total of eight gold, five silver and one bronze medals. The following students should be commended for qualifying for the upcoming Australian Track and Field Championships in March: Jonathan Harris (U18 800 m and 1500 m), Josh Moro (U17 Long Jump, 400m and 400m Hurdles), Ethan Allison (U16 Triple Jump), Gman Paye (U17 100m, 200m and 400m), Andrew Maenda (U16 100m and 200m), Lawson Jones (U16 Pole Vault and High Jump), Stephen Lacroix-Sneyd (U16 800m and 1500 m).

Old scholar and former Athletics Vice Captain Aidan Murphy (FRR 2020) also broke the state Open 200m and National U20 200m record with a blistering time of 20.41sec on the weekend.

Thank you to coaches Tony Checker, Rick Wilson, Lio Ferrante and Rob Melin for working tirelessly all weekend to get our athletes prepared for their events.

Please wish the athletes well for their upcoming performances at Nationals in March.
