On Friday of Week 5, we had the opportunity to attend a Spanish Conference for Senior Students at Flinders University with around 160 students from Years 10 to 12. We went together with our Spanish class, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We were both really happy to be there because it was a great opportunity to meet other students, experience Spanish culture and have a fun day outside of the normal classroom environment.
One of the biggest highlights for us was definitely the quizzes. We really enjoyed competing, testing our Spanish knowledge and working together with our group. The quizzes were probably our favourite part of the entire event because they were fun, challenging and gave us something to get competitive about. We had a great time seeing how much we knew and having a laugh along the way. Being able to work with our friends made the quizzes even better.
There was also a lot of dancing throughout the day. Although dancing wasn’t really our favourite activity, it was still fun to get involved and watch everyone else enjoying themselves. With around 160 students all together, the atmosphere was energetic and exciting. It was great to see everyone participating and enjoying the Spanish music and activities, even if dancing wasn’t exactly our thing.
We also enjoyed visiting Flinders University. It was interesting to experience being on a university campus and see what an event there was like. It made the day feel different from a normal school day and gave us the chance to learn while having fun with our friends.
Overall, we had a really enjoyable and memorable day. The quizzes were definitely the highlight for us, and going with six other students made the experience even more fun. We would like to give a big thank you to Dr Garcia for organising the event and giving us the opportunity to be involved. We really appreciated the experience and would definitely attend another Spanish event in the future!
