The annual Spanish Film Festival took place at the Palace Nova Cinema in the city. On the 10 May the Year 11 and 12 Spanish students were treated to a private showing of “Tadeo Jones 2: El secreto del Rey Midas.“
Tad, an explorer and his archaeologist girlfriend, discover the existence of King Midas’ necklace. The adventure really kicks in when Sara gets kidnapped by a millionaire who wants the necklace for himself. Tad and his friends travel the world in search of clues to find Sara and the necklace, including a stop at the magnificent Alhambra in Granada.
The animated film was indeed a challenge for the boys as subtitles were not available. This was compounded by trying to understand the pitch and ramblings of the exiled mummy of Paititi. The students certainly enjoyed the language immersion experience and we are looking forward to seeing what the Film Festival will bring next year.
