On Saturday 6 August over 1,250 members of our community gathered at the Adelaide Convention Centre for the SPSC 175 Gala Ball. As guests entered the hall through the Hayward Gates they walked into the walls and fields of SPSC. Large-scale animated visual projections of the School’s buildings and grounds created a sense that you were at the School for this special celebration.
Across the evening guests were taken on a journey through time as old scholars shared special memories of their school days at St Peter’s College. A condensed version of the video, shown on the evening as a large-scale projection, can be viewed here. Thank you to Dr John Skipper AM (HWK 1938), The Hon Ian McLachlan AO (SCH 1954), Mr Tony Keynes OAM (SCH 1970), Dr Matthew Hutchinson (YNG 1997) and Year 2 student James Wallet who feature in the video. Thank you also to old scholar Hamish McLachlan (W&A 1992) for narrating the opening and closing passages.
Student musicians and performers entertained guests throughout the evening before the School’s Big Band kicked off the dance floor. Judging by the hive of activity around the gin bar, photo walls and dance floor, guests thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with old colleagues and friends.
Thank you for joining us for this special celebration. It was a wonderful evening that provided the opportunity to celebrate those who have come before us as we look to the future and the legacy we are creating for generations to come. For those looking to relive the night, a SPSC 175 Gala Ball highlights video can be viewed below and a gallery of images here.
