12 June 2026
On Thursday 4 June, our Senior School team consisting of 28 athletes travelled to Oakbank for the SSSSA Cross Country State Championships. Our boys competed across six age groups where teams consisted of each school’s first four athletes across the finish line. Our SPSC athletes took on a challenging course with every boy showing true grit and resilience, pushing themselves to give their best for the team. Despite the cold weather and rain it was an extremely rewarding and successful day.
There were a number of outstanding achievements:

We also had teams competing in the 12 Years 3000m (Jack Hutchinson, Christian Raschella), the 13 Years 3000m (Asher Brittingham, Leo Hu, Angas Steel), and the 14 Years 3000m (Shrihan Mahinderkar, Oliver Walsh, Hugo Matthews, Henry Jamieson, Samuel Alcorn).
Most notably by all athletes was the support and encouragement they offered each other throughout the day. Despite the cold weather and rain, everyone braced the elements to cheer on their fellow teammates. A huge congratulations to all athletes, and thank you for representing SPSC with such respect, pride and positivity.
On behalf of the boys, thank you to our Coaching Staff, Adam Goddard and Zac Connell for their valuable leadership and support, photographer Rob Lane for capturing some great photos of all the athletes, and Tony Checker for his support in coordinating the day. Thank you also to parents, extended family members and staff who supported the boys’ involvement.
