The SSSSA (Secondary School Sport South Australia) Track and Field Championships is a keenly contested one, open to all secondary schools in our state. With 6 grades programmed across 6 days, 2 divisions of competition in each of these grades, it is common to have 8-10 schools contesting each division. Within each, there is a promotion and relegation system in place.
Competitions such as these, challenge school communities. Collegiality and willingness to serve are qualities at the forefront of success. In the past 57 years, St Peter’s College has managed to win A Grade Division 1 on 4 occasions. 10 points are on offer for each first placing, descending points for placings from there. With only 18 points separating first from third after 60 events, you can picture the cost of a missed event and point scoring opportunity.
Placing | School | Points |
1 | Trinity College | 393 |
2 | Mercedes College | 387 |
3 | St Peter’s College | 375 |
4 | Immanuel College | 359 |
5 | Henley High School | 329 |
6 | Brighton High School | 307 |
