From Wednesday 27 April – Sunday 1 May, St Peter’s College defended their State Championship title in Goolwa at the State’s Sailing Competition. We fielded the following three teams:
Saints 1: Ian Irwin (c) / Max Au, Kevin He / Marvin Xu, Joshua Murray / Ruscoe Robertson
Saints 2: Jackson Li (c) / Jesse Sanders, Derek Yang / Ethan Lee, Lachlan Galagher / Sunny Zhang
Composite team with PAC: David Taylor/ Kaiden Smith and Samuel Loftus / Casper Cai.
St Peter’s College raced over three gruelling days, from 9am in the morning until 5pm in the afternoon with minimal breaks. There were many exciting races with Saints 2 beating some of the top teams. Saints 1 narrowly missed some big wins that would have secured them a spot in the finals, so unfortunately they missed out on a top four spot and an opportunity to defend their title.
All three teams showed great passion and perseverance in what was a truly exhausting weekend that tested not only their sailing ability but their endurance. Congratulations to the sailors and Sailing community for a challenging but successful season.
