St Peter’s College is one step closer to realising the next chapter for Big Quad after ground was broken on the project in January this year.
The vision for Big Quad includes an upper level within the southern building, a home for the CEO-in-residence program, new House hubs, study areas for senior students and more flexible, modern and diverse learning spaces to match contemporary educational needs.
Big School Room will also be transformed into a modern learning space that celebrates its history as the oldest classroom still in use in Australia.
The designs by Gerald Matthews (FRR ’93) of Matthews Architects have been developed with the utmost care for the historic fabric of the campus whilst reinforcing our commitment to build an exceptional community of learning for current and future generations.
Sarah Constructions has been awarded the build contract.
The ongoing regeneration of the School is made possible thanks to the ongoing generosity of our community. In particular, we acknowledge the $1 million contribution of Mr John Downer AM (HWK ’53) and another major donor who wishes to remain anonymous. This project wouldn’t be possible without their support and the contributions of the wider St Peter’s College community.
