THRASS (Teaching Handwriting, Reading and Spelling skills) is an approach utilised throughout the Junior School at St Peter’s College. All teachers are trained in delivering THRASS, ensuring consistent and high-quality learning experiences for every boy and, pleasing results.

One feature of THRASS is the THRASS Chart and, last week, our Prep and Reception boys – and teachers – brought THRASS to life with a THRASS Dress Up Day. Children were invited to dress as something from the THRASS Chart and they certainly delivered. Our learning space was filled with doctors, trees, ants, pirates, lions, pandas and so much more.

The boys proudly showcased their creative costume in a morning parade for family, friends, Mrs Taylor and Mr Browning before engaging in a rotation of learning tasks, each focused on a sound/word from the THRASS Chart. Making microphones to use their voice to sing the THRASS Rap, baking banana bread, building a city from large cardboard boxes, creating garden stew and planting seeds for a garden, were rich experiences to ensure learning is both meaningful and memorable.

We thank our families for their support in creating costumes for their son and for attending our parade. We truly value the strong connection we have between home and school.
