On Thursday 25 March, some of our Year 4, 5 and 8 students participated in the SAFTA (South Australian French Teachers’ Association) Tournoi de Pétanque (French bowls tournament), at the Unley Sports Club. St Peter’s College fielded two junior and two senior teams. The boys eagerly volunteered their time and demonstrated our values of truth, respect and service. Our students showed great sportsmanship, patience and skill.
A Year 4/5 team made to the semi-finals but were knocked out in a very close game. The other Year 4/5 team stayed on to cheer and encourage their fellow ‘Pétanque’ enthusiasts. It was terrific to see a Year 8 team make it to the senior finals, but unfortunately they were defeated by Seaview High School.
Madame McLachlan, Miss Procopio and Madame Castrechini-Sutton would like to congratulate the boys on their participation and commitment to celebrating the French language and culture.
