Congratulations to Harry Bruce, who was recently selected in the Under 18 state basketball team. Harry will travel to Werribee, Victoria, in April to compete in the national tournament.
Harry began his basketball career with the West Adelaide Bearcats when he was 8 years old and has been a standout for the club in the Division 1 competition. Throughout his time at St Peter’s College, Harry has displayed a tremendous work ethic. He is often on the courts before school starts, shooting with his dad or doing extra sessions with our coaches. Harry sacrificed a great deal of his Christmas holidays to make the state team, working out with our Open 1st team coach, Tim Odell.
Last season Harry surprised many by earning a starting spot on the Open 1st team. He went on to have a superb season, emerging as one of the best 3-point shooters in the league. Harry was awarded for his outstanding play, receiving the team’s Most Valuable Player award, an honour which is unheard of for a Year 9 student.
It has been great to see Harry’s rapid development on the basketball court and we wish him all the best at the national tournament.
