The SPSC Senior VEX Robotics team comprising of Ed Gross, Vincent Truong and Jesse Weber competed in the first V5 robotics tournament of the 2025 season hosted by St John’s Grammar on Tuesday 12 August.
The 2025 season, called ‘Push Back’, is a game of skill and strategy based on collecting field elements and placing them in strategic locations for varying points. Each match consists of four teams in two alliances battling for supremacy. The team has spent many hours, out of classtime, designing and constructing their robot.
The tournament consisted of 16 teams from Investigator College, Pedare Christian College, Pembroke, Prince Alfred College, Salisbury High School and St John’s Grammar. Pleasingly the SPSC team were victorious, winning the final match 39 points to 37 in what was an intriguing battle.
The team is to be commended on their technical skill, team work, resilience and commitment to the SPSC VEX program. The team has now qualified for the State finals to be held on 10 November at University of South Australia Mawson Lakes campus.
Congratulations boys and good luck for the finals.
