In week 4, students in Years 7 to 9 participated in an enlightening author talk and writing workshop led by renowned young-adult author, Will Kostakis. The students were not only entertained but also inspired by his journey as a writer and the insights he shared about the writing process. Will signed his first book deal when he was in high school, however there were plenty of rejections and roadblocks along the way. Through his humorous anecdotes, Will was able to share with students the hard-work and dedication that is required to become a published author. One of the key takeaways from the event was the invaluable lesson on the importance of reading. To re-enforce that lesson, Will spent time with students in the library during recess helping them find books to reignite their love of reading. We’re grateful to Will Kostakis for inspiring the next generation of storytellers and look forward to welcoming him back in the future.
