On Thursday 28 August, St Peter’s College hosted the annual Voices of Adelaide Choral Workshops. Voices of Adelaide is an organisation founded and directed by old scholar Jonathan Bligh (SCH 2001). Each year the group runs workshop sessions for schools across Adelaide, and this year St Peter’s College welcomed students from St Ignatius College, Salisbury East High School, Christian Brothers College and Xavier College (Gawler Belt campus).

Students had the privilege of working with Brisbane-based barbershop quartet, Blindside. Through the workshops, they rehearsed and collaborated to develop the art of singing together in barbershop harmony and style, building their skills in four-part choral performance. Blindside not only performed throughout the day but also workshopped “incorrect” singing techniques to challenge students’ listening skills and highlight the common issues that can arise when singing in an ensemble.

We thank Jonathan Bligh and Voices of Adelaide for providing this valuable opportunity for choral students to come together in a collaborative and supportive environment, exploring both the nuance and artistry of group singing.
