Five St Peter’s College students represented South Australia at the National State Water Polo Championships in Canberra during the recent holidays.

In the 17U competition Oscar Larwood (Year 11), Harvey Bryant (Year 10) and Joshua Maung (Year 10) competed strongly, securing a win against Tasmania and pushing ACT and Victoria in two closely contested games. Across the tournament, Oscar scored eight goals, Josh six and Harvey two, with all three displaying great teamwork and perseverance.

Oscar was also invited to compete in the Canberra Cup Water Polo Competition in the Men’s Division 1 league, representing Melbourne-based team DVE Aquatic. The tournament featured elite-level athletes including current and former Australian Olympic representatives and Australian Water Polo League players. It was an impressive milestone for Oscar to compete alongside some of the country’s leading players.

In the 15U competition, Ethan Jaldiani (Year 10) captained the South Australian team that included Nicholas Cleanthous (Year 8) through a challenging week that included several strong victories. Ethan finished among the top ten offensive leaders nationally, scoring 21 goals, including a memorable game-winning penalty against Victoria. Following the tournament, Water Polo Australia announced Ethan’s selection for the U16 Australian Squad, the national age group program for his division. He is one of only two South Australians selected and will now attend national training camps around the country.

Congratulations boys.
