It was an absolute joy to welcome back staff and students onto campus last week following the holiday break. Over the break, I was fortunate to attend the International Boys’ School Coalition Annual Conference hosted at Westlake Boys High School, Auckland with Mrs Jasmine Taylor. I look forward to sharing the themes and learning from this event with our community.

Throughout Term 3, the Junior School will be focusing on the Visible WellbeingTM pathway of relationships. The URStrong program guides our explicit wellbeing lessons and provides our community with the language of friendship. Key components of this program are the Four Friendship Facts, Friend-o-meter and Friend-o-cycle. Importantly it also provides the students with the ability to recognise when they are experiencing a friendship fire or mean on purpose behaviour and what steps can be put in place to seek help. Help seeking behaviour is a crucial aspect of social and emotional learning for us to develop in our students.

The URStrong program provides a free parent membership and this can be accessed via the following link. If you would like further information about this program, please speak to your child’s class teacher or come and have a chat with me.
