On Friday 27 August, the Stage 1 Health Science classes and the Stage 2 Health and Wellbeing class were lucky enough to be involved in a Novita program, WheelieNet, as part of their unit on disability studies. The boys engaged with wheelchair skills, wheelchair basketball and inclusive zone basketball.
Michael Neroni, the coordinator of the program, is a man who is wheelchair bound and runs this program through a number of schools. I would sincerely like to thank him for his outstanding efforts with the boys. His way of engaging and educating the boys regarding wheelchair use was second to none.
The boys thoroughly enjoyed the activity and came away with a newfound respect for people in our community who are restricted in their mobility.
I would like to thank Mr Matthew French, Mr David De Lacy, Mr Todd Matthews and Novita for supporting this activity.
