The 2024 Junior School Winter House Games for Years 3 to 6 recently took place, offering students the opportunity to represent their Houses in various winter sports against and with their school friends.
Competition was both fierce and friendly in Football, Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, and Table Tennis.
Football matches were held on Girdlestone Oval between the House teams in Years 3/4 and 5/6. All games were closely contested, with some glorious goals scored. In both age groups, Stokes Ware House secured the most points, though it was a close call.
On Palm House and Lloyd ovals, Soccer was extremely competitive, with four games played simultaneously. All age group teams experienced both victories and losses, and in the end, there was little difference in points between Brooks House, Clayton Dyer House, and Stokes Ware House.
At Burchnall Sports Centre, the Junior School Hall, and the outdoor courts, Basketball showcased amazing skill levels from all class levels and houses. Once again, the scores were very close, with Alliston Jones House, Brooks House, and Stokes Ware House narrowly edging each other out.
On the Hockey pitches, the all-day competition was intense, with points shared among all House teams.
In the Green Shed, students surprised both themselves and their teachers with their skill and enjoyment in Table Tennis! Clayton Dyer House just managed to edge out the competition in points.
A big thank you to all the teachers who enthusiastically supported the event, the Senior School students for their umpiring, and the Junior School Friends of Saints for an amazing BBQ lunch.
What a great day!
