On Wednesday 20 March, Junior School students watched on as School Captain, Hugo Hart and Vice Captain, David Quan, as well as Saints staff Ben Storer, Jason Cosgrove, Sam Tirrell, Avan Rogers and John Cosenza gave up their luscious locks to help support Australian families facing blood cancer. Thank you to those who bravely shaved and also to the School community who have raised over $7,650 so far to support the incredible work of the Leukaemia Foundation.

The Leukaemia Foundation is committed to the care and cure of patients and families living with blood cancer and blood related disorders. Did you know that 35 Australians are diagnosed with blood cancer every day and that it is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia? Blood cancer claims more lives than breast cancer or melanoma and despite improved treatments and care, one Australian loses their life to blood cancer every two hours. School Captain, Hugo Hart said of yesterday’s event, Incredible support today – thank you to everyone who’s supported our team. Hopefully we’re able to achieve our goal of $10,000 by this Friday. Let’s continue to fight for each other’s health, wellbeing and truth!

Thank you to the Junior School for raising awareness about this cause. On Tuesday 9 April, Year 12 student Alex Wakeham will have his head shaved by Headmaster, Tim Browning. Blood cancer is a cause close to Alex’s heart, having lost a close family member to blood cancer. Alex and Woodcock House will strive to raise over $6,000. Stay tuned for more details.
