On Friday 18 October, Year 1 students and their families ‘roughed it’ in tents on Palm House Oval for the Year 1 Sleepover. For many students, it was their first time sleeping in a tent—and for some, their first night ever spent away from home.
After setting up their tents, everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ prepared by our Junior School Leadership Team. The evening was packed with fun activities, including dessert-making, a lively game of ‘Tail Tag’ on the oval, and some creative sandpit ‘town-planning’ and excavating. After the sun had set, students embarked on a torch-lit night walk around the campus, finally arriving at the Secret Garden, which was illuminated with hundreds of glow sticks for the children to discover.
Before bedtime, we gathered for hot chocolate, their pre-prepared dessert and a delightful reader’s theatre adaptation of the beloved story Room on the Broom, bringing the magical night to a cosy close.
