In the last week of our long Term 1, Year 12 EAL students along with Russell Tan enjoyed a celebratory cultural dinner together in Chinatown. It was a wonderful evening and a great way to finish a long term of study. The students were accompanied by their teacher Ms Kerry Skujins and International Student Coordinator Ms Siew Ng.

The restaurant provided the boys with a number of familiar dishes that included pork, tofu, beef and a variety of vegetables. It was very interesting how silent the tables were during the meal as the boys made the most of the lovely food offered to them.

However, the volume soon picked up and was a signifier of full bellies and positive demeanour. Ms Siew provided a number of cultural insights into how the head of a round table is signified in Chinese culture and the importance of sitting at the left and right side of the host. Interestingly, the host of a dinner is expected to pay the bill for all the guests!

Eating together is one of the best ways to spend time with classmates and teachers. The boys must be commended on the way they conducted themselves and proved themselves to be wonderful international ambassadors of SPSC.
