During their last week of School, the Year 12 German class, George Karassoulos, Alex Roe, Harry Tennant and Alex Hofmann came together for a final German lunch at the Hahndorf Inn. Students enjoyed an enormous but delicious Deluxe Bavarian platter. This tasty dish comprised of a combination of Schweinshaxe (roast pork knuckle), schnitzel, sausages, Bavarian rissoles, beef ribs, sauerkraut, rotkohl, potato salad, mashed potato, mustard, mushroom sauce and pork jus.
The restaurant was a popular choice, as the boys remembered it from their Year 10 excursion two years earlier. At that time, George wrote in his report for the newsletter: “I rate the meal a genuine 11/10.”
It was a lovely way to end my association teaching of these students, most of whom I have taught since Year 8. Pleasingly, they all want to continue their studies in German in one way or another in the years to come.
