Earlier in Term 3 all Year 12 IB German students momentarily escaped the busy and chaotic Year 12 for an afternoon exploring Hahndorf. In celebration of an excellent five years of studying German at St Peter’s College, Frau McCauley and Herr Swanson accompanied us to a highly anticipated German meal at the Hahndorf Inn, where we were excited to relive the enjoyment of the Year 10 German excursion to Hahndorf.
After starting the meal with traditional Bavarian pretzels, some in the group opted for a towering veggie burger, while most of us enjoyed a huge ‘Original Taste of Germany’ share platter of German sausages, mashed potato, sauerkraut, bockwurst, smoked Kassler chop and Eisbein pork hock. Leaving only bones and salad on the platter, we departed for School after revisiting several of the sites we had seen two years earlier. It was a great experience for us to catch up with teachers for potentially the last time before climbing the mountain of Year 12 exams.
