Truth, Respect & Service ‘Pro Deo et Patria’. At St Peters College we believe that because we are Anglican, we are called to serve others. We have the responsibility to meet the needs of the wider community which is why the Year 3 cohort embraced the opportunity to support an organisation in our community, The Smith Family.
The Smith Family are a not for profit organisation that believe education is one of the world’s most powerful tools. They focus on helping young Australians to overcome educational barriers caused by poverty. They provide practical, emotional and educational support that all young children need to ensure they can flourish and fulfil their dreams.
During Term 2 the Year 3 cohort ran a km a day to complete a full marathon of 42.195kms. Throughout the term they had conversations with family, friends and people in the community to grow their awareness of the Smith Family and how they were supporting them. They sought sponsorship and together with the proceeds from their toy & book sale they were able to raise $2,200 that they hope will make a difference to those less fortunate.
It was a rewarding experience for the Year 3 cohort and they look forwad to supporting a child and others throughout their educational journey.
