Year 6 students attended the Space Theatre this week to see Whalebone as part of the DreamBIG Children’s Festival. The boys were a fantastic audience and enjoyed the interactive elements of the show. Hector Ross volunteered his services to help the ‘Operator’ scan objects to save humanity’s stories, before a rogue AI threatened their destruction. The performance explored the potential loss of the stories and artefacts that make us human.
Ending on a hopeful note, the audience was entertained with elements of clowning, circus tricks and inventive stagecraft. After a humorous question-and-answer session, the boys had plenty to discuss on the walk back to school.
Year 6 students will use ideas from the performance to generate and inspire their own scenes later in the year.
