The Year 8 German students recently took part in a traditional German slap-dancing or ‘Schuhplattler’ workshop. A Bavarian dancer in full traditional dress led the workshop with the boys testing their coordination as they tried their hand at the ‘right slap on left foot / left slap on right foot’ dance steps. As the sequences became increasingly complicated, a number of students showed quite a talent for the dance!

Afterwards, a welcome German lunch was served consisting of schnitzel, spiced red cabbage, ‘Spätzle’ German egg noodles, pretzels and berliners. This experience helped enrich their understanding of the German culture, as they continue their learning of the German language.
