Last week, Year 9 students brought Steve Fitzpatrick’s The Gold of Lies to life, performing for an enthusiastic audience of Years 4 and 6 students. The play explored themes of truth and deception, centered around the intriguing power of “this funny yellow metal”, and delivered its message with humour and energy.

The production was a collaborative effort that extended beyond acting. Year 9 student also took on roles in tech and costume design, ensuring every element of the performance came together seamlessly. A standout feature was the original raps written and performed by Paolo Stephens, which opened and closed the show with creativity and flair.

Adding to the experience, Year 11 Music students contributed their talents by composing the rap beats and crafting a distinctive “gold sound effect” as part of their music assessment.

The characters in the play were bold and exaggerated in style, they combined elements of silliness and physical comedy to great effect.

Congratulations to the Years 9 and 11 students for their dedication and ingenuity in creating a memorable and entertaining production that really entertained delighted their audience.
