In recent weeks, Year 7 Art students have been looking at and analysing the work of renowned British Sculptor, Barbara Hepworth. They have used their understanding of her work to inform the shape and theme of their own sculptural pieces.
Using Eco Florists foam, the boys have each created a sculpture based upon something of personal relevance to them, whether this be a friend or family member, a pet, a sport, or even a concept. The resulting pieces are highly emotive, clearly conveying a sense of connectedness between the student and their chosen subject matter. I was so impressed by the sensitivity with which the boys carved the foam, and their careful selection of a colour palette which enhanced the narrative being conveyed. I could not be more proud of what they have all achieved.
