The Years 11-12 German students recently visited the Art Gallery of South Australia to photograph a work of art of their choice and then detail the piece in German.
Mrs Helfa Linnert, a German speaking tour guide gave the students a tour of the significant artworks in German. Students were attentive and reported that they understood much of what was said.
It is always an invaluable experience for students to be given the opportunity to hear other people speak in native German. Apart from the language learning opportunity, it was intresting to discover what treasures we actually have in the Art Gallery of South Australia!
Following our one hour tour, the students took part in the cultural tradition of afternoon “Kaffee und Kuchen”. A brisk walk back to School through the Botanical Gardens completed an enjoyable excursion.
