Our Junior School House program provides all boys the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities. These activities can range from public speaking to sporting events, chess, debating or our most recent event, House music.
On Wednesday 19 September, all boys from Year 3 to Year 6 experienced the annual House Music Competition, having an opportunity to demonstrate choral singing and stage performance. Over the term, the boys worked in their Houses to develop an understanding of their individual songs and how the songs can be pieced together as a performance.
This year, the Heads of House each chose a Beatles song to perform:
- Alliston Jones “I saw her standing there”
- Brooks “Help”
- Clayton-Dyer “Let it Be”
- Stokes-Ware “Hey Jude”
- Year 3 item “A medley of traditional Spirituals”
Thanks go to the four Heads of House, Patricia Bartholomaeus (in Travis Burridge’s absence), Alliston Jones House, John Athanasiou, Brooks House, Nicholas Crawley, Clayton-Dyer House and Richard Davey, Stokes-Ware. A big thank you also to the Music Department, namely Barbara Sedgley and Katie Carey for all of their help with preparing and orchestrating the event.
This year, we had a record number of parents and friend attend the House Music Competition. Thank you for your continued support of these events in the Junior School.
Finally, a big congratulations to the winning House – Brooks who were awarded the House Music trophy for their performance.
