Today’s Years 7 to 11 Speech Day marked the conclusion of the 178th academic year at St Peter’s College.
This year’s Speech Day address was delivered by Mr Jon Inge, who retired after an extraordinary 35 years of service to our School. Jon spoke about the teachers who shaped him as a young person and the ways in which great educators can change the course of a boy’s life. Over his own 40,000 lessons, nearly three decades of association with Farr House and 22 years where he was Head of House, Jon did exactly that.
Jon shared with students two ‘life hacks’: your future success is a team effort, and real growth comes from being brave enough to take risks. Listen to those who want the best for you, learn from every stumble, and don’t shy away from challenges as that’s where the best opportunities begin.
The ceremony also included a musical performance by Max (Year 8) who performed Times Like These by the Foo Fighters. It has been a significant year for Max and we thank him for being part of today’s ceremony.
Congratulations to all students on a year of growth, achievement and discovery. Whether through their studies, co-curricular pursuits or contributions to our community, they continue to embody the spirit of St Peter’s College. To those who received awards today, your effort and commitment are recognised and celebrated.
Thank you to our staff for their care and expertise and to our parents for their ongoing partnership and support. Together, we close another year in the life of St Peter’s College with pride in what has been achieved and optimism for what lies ahead.
