Support Project Pitch In

Cricket at St Peter’s College has a long and distinguished history with records of the earliest matches played on Main Oval dating back to the early 1850s. Our Founders placed great importance on Cricket’s values and traditions as a part of our student’s holistic education. This commitment has ensured the sport’s enduring presence within our School.

The game of Cricket consistently tests its players; it tests their application to their training, their game, their concentration, their resilience, their skills under pressure and their sportsmanship. An additional challenge is the turf pitch upon which the game unfolds. These pitches, diverse in their characteristics, can present multiple challenges – from variations in bounce and pace to unexpected turns – each contributing to the game of Cricket’s unique appeal.

Throughout the years, we have been fortunate to enjoy well-kept playing fields, yet like any natural asset, our cricket wickets require periodic renewal to maintain the high standards we uphold.

In acknowledgement of this year being the 170th anniversary of the first two-innings match played on the School oval, St Peter’s College has committed to replacing the centre wicket blocks on all our major ovals, starting with the Main, and to replacing the turf practice wickets on the northern ovals.

Due to financial constraints, it is estimated Project Pitch In will take up to ten years to complete without private support. However, with additional support, this timeframe can be accelerated significantly.

We invite you to contribute to Project Pitch In and help bring this project to fruition ahead of schedule. Any support you can provide will make a difference in the lives of our student cricketers and the wider SPSC Cricket community.

Project Pitch In is being run in collaboration with the Australian Sports Foundation to ensure all donations are tax-deductible. If you choose to support SPSC Cricket in this way, your tax-deductible gift can be made in one payment, or in instalments across two financial years.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our Cricket Program. May it continue to be a source of challenge and fulfillment for our students and future generations.
