2021 has been a magnificent year and it has been wonderful to celebrate our aspiration to be an exceptional community of learning through a range of joyful events over the past week; the ELC Christmas Concert, the Reception Nativity Concert, the Reception to Year 2 Pageant, the Year 6 Graduation, the Years 3 to 6 Speech Day, the Carols Service and the Years 7 to 11 Speech Day. Each event has provided an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of our students and all that has been accomplished in the past 12 months. Each event served as a reminder of the power of a single sex education as we witnessed boys and young men singing and performing with great enthusiasm. These performances, like so many other activities, are not only normal, but are encouraged and admired at SPSC.

As we acknowledged the endeavour of our individual prize winners and collective excellence through our Junior School House Champion (congratulations Clayton-Dyer House) we also took time to recognise the importance of pursuing one’s personal truth; being comfortable with who you are and not pretending to be something you’re not. And this pursuit is something we celebrate along with the commitment of our students to learn a new instrument or sport, to overcome their fear of sleeping out on camp, to reach out to someone in need and make new friends. All of these achievements and efforts are to be acknowledged and celebrated.

I acknowledge the efforts of our talented, caring and committed staff as these opportunities would not have been possible without their exceptional dedication and support. In my thank you and farewell article I make special mention of staff who are leaving the School at the end of the year and those who have completed an extended period of service.

To all our parents, thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to your son’s learning journey.

I wish everyone in the St Peter’s College community a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous 2022. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Saints Summer 2022 edition due to land in your letterbox in coming weeks. On the cover you’ll find a special invite to attend our 175 Gala Ball on Saturday 8 August 2022.

Merry Christmas.
