Dr Richard Sawers AM (ATH 1966), President of the St Peter’s College Foundation, together with Tim Browning, Headmaster, and the Foundation Board of Directors, hosted Stories in Stone: A Heritage Tour for the Dutton Society, a morning designed to celebrate the rich heritage of St Peter’s College.
The Dutton Society honours the lasting connection that past parents, grandparents and special friends have with St Peter’s College and celebrates the important role families play in shaping the School’s community and traditions. Members of the Society remain an important part of the life of the School, and the opportunity to return to campus provided a chance to reconnect with the history, places and people that form part of our shared story.
Together, we explored the School’s historic precinct, beginning at Oval House before making our way through some of our most significant buildings, including Old School House, Big School Room, the Chapel, Memorial Hall and the Memorial Arch. Along the way, students from the SPSC Historical Society shared stories of the people, moments and traditions that have defined our community for 179 years.
The walk concluded with morning tea in Da Costa Dining Hall, providing the opportunity to connect with fellow past parents and enjoy the sense of continuity that binds the Dutton Society.
The morning was a warm occasion, with a lovely sense of warmth and connection throughout. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the history and revisiting familiar places.
We would also like to sincerely thank our School Archivist, Olivia Ruggiero, and the students from the Historical Society for their thoughtful preparation and generosity in giving their time to lead the tours. Their knowledge and enthusiasm brought the School’s history to life and were greatly appreciated by all who attended.
